Araucaria angustifolia

Planta nativa do Brasil, a qual tem sua distribuição no sul e sudeste do Brasil, é uma espécie arbórea de grande porte, e seu habitat natural se dá em locais de clima frio. Seus frutos, os pinhões, têm grande importância para a alimentação de muitas espécies da fauna silvestre e também para o ser humano. A exploração indiscriminada colocou-a na lista oficial das espécies da flora brasileira ameaçadas de extinção, e ela atualmente está situada na categoria criticamente em perigo em nível global, segundo a Lista Vermelha de Espécies Ameaçadas da IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).

Originally from Brazil, it is distributed in South and Southe ast regions. It is a large-sized tree species naturally growing in cold weather places. The fruits, called pine nuts, are very important to feed many wildlife species, as well as human beings. The indiscriminate exploitation placed it on the official list of Brazilian threatened flora species. Currently, it appears on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List of Threatened Species, in the category of critically endangered species on a global level.
