Seus principais atributos são suas folhas e seus colmos longos, amarelos com listras verdes, muito chamativos e de alto valor ornamental. No paisagismo, é ideal para o fechamento de grandes espaços, barreiras acústicas, contenção de vento e poeira. É também muito empregada na construção civil e na produção de artesanato.

Originally from China, India and Southeast Asia, this tree has fast growth, big size, and discrete flowers. The main attributes are the leaves and the long yellow-green striped culms, which are very flashy and have high ornamental value. In landscaping, it is perfect for wide spaces closure, acoustic barriers, wind and dust containment. It is also very used in the construction industry and in craftwork.
